https://justdogood.org/ The Compton Initiative is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2006 to help restore the city of Compton. In partnership with individual volunteers and other organizations, the Compton Initiative paints homes, schools and churches four times a year. It has grown so much since its founding that thousands of workers of all ages and backgrounds from Los Angeles and other parts of California and the country show up on quarterly workdays.
The Compton Initiative offers individuals, community organizations, service groups, other non-profits and companies an opportunity to do good by making a substantial impact in Compton. The work of the volunteers instills a sense of care and pride within the neighborhoods of Compton.
I find donating my time and dollars to the Compton Initiative to be very satisfying as you can directly see the work they are doing and how your money is being used. Maybe even more fun is to join them on a workday to help.
These are just a few of the many photographs I have taken to give you an idea of their work.
