These are pictures from the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebration at the Los Angeles Plaza Historical Park, the oldest section of LA established in 1781 (even before I was born). The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1 & 2 where families honor and remember deceased loved ones. It is a celebration of life and death. I went to the Park to enjoy the celebration and took a few pictures. Faces are decorated, alters were constructed and decorated with photos, marigolds, candles, and the favorite foods and drinks of the departed. Each year at the Park, there is traditional Mexican dancing by women and men of all ages with a large crowd of family and friends cheering them on.
