Fakir Bagan is a “slum” located just across the Howrah Bridge from the city of Kolkata, India. The area was made famous in Dominique Lapierre’s 30-year-old book “The City of Joy.” I was in Fakir Bagan photographing for the remarkable charity, Calcutta Kids, which serves mothers and their newborn children in the slum. I was able to take some personal images while making home visits with the case workers.
